Regulations
As a MOTOCARD EPIC RAID rider, you need to make sure that your bike is equipped with the following items that will be checked during the technical and administrative checks:
MOTORCYCLE:
- Fuel: Make sure you have enough capacity for a range of 250 km.
- 100% off-road tires: These must have mousse, reinforced inner tube or be tubeless. If your tire does not support the mousse, carry an anti-puncture kit.
- Lighting and brake lights: Do not forget to have them working.
- Official bib stickers: These are included in the registration fee.
- Insurance in force for your motorcycle.
- Electric roadbook holder or GPS holder: Choose the one you prefer for navigation.
- TRIP Odometer: If you don’t use GPS, make sure you have one.
- Stella III EVO installation kit: Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Stella bracket: If you don’t have it, you can buy it from the manufacturer’s website here.
PILOT:
- Helmet with valid homologation: Do not forget to wear it for your safety.
- Back and chest protectors: These are essential to protect you during the test.
- Neck protector (recommended): Although optional, we recommend it for your safety.
- Tool kit on the motorcycle: Be prepared for any unforeseen event in the desert.
- 3 liters of water (minimum): Stay hydrated under the relentless sun.
- Boots and knee pads: These are essential to face the terrain.
- Thermal blanket: In case of emergency, this can save you from the cold.
- Survival ration provided by the organization at each stage: Make sure you have it on hand.
We will have you located at all times by means of a satellite beacon with coverage through the Iridium system. If at any time your vehicle stops, we receive a warning directly to our staff responsible for your safety.
If during the course of a stage you need assistance, either by accident, mechanical breakdown or physical indisposition, this is the plan we have in place:
Assistance in case of accident.
If you find another participant on the track who has a problem, whether mechanical or medical, you must stop and attend to him/her. Check that he/she is all right. If you need help, activate the protocols explained in the Stella device. You can indicate 3 types of messages:
-
- That all is well.
- That you are standing without the need for help.
- That you need urgent help.
If you have mobile coverage, call the Race Director to communicate the incidents and the type of help needed. Obviously, this protocol also applies to yourself.
Medical services
The Organization will have 4×4 medical vehicles to attend possible medical emergencies in any type of track strategically distributed along the route of each stage. In addition to other vehicles for medical support.
Travel assistance
The Organization has 4×4 rescue vehicles available to attend to incidents on the track. This includes the rescue of motorcycles in case of breakdowns that cannot be repaired by the participants. The assistance will not be able to fix the motorcycle, but it will be able to rescue it. If you have an assistance service contracted by you, they can also help you if the conditions allow it and you prefer it.
The regulations explain all aspects of the raid, with technical, sporting, logistical and legal details. Read it carefully and remember that registration implies acceptance of all its articles.
