MOTO
  • Fuel: Make sure you have enough capacity for a range of 250 km.

ATTENTION: If you need a visa to enter Morocco due to your nationality, it is your responsibility to process and obtain the visa.

9. ROADBOOK

At the beginning of the MOTOCARD EPIC RAID and if you are in this category, you will receive a Roadbook that will help you to follow the route and validate the mandatory waypoints. This Roadbook can be in digital or paper format.

  • If it is on paper, the Organization will give you one the night before.
  • If it is in digital format, you will have access to it electronically.

Regardless of the format, this Roadbook is crucial to ensure that you complete each stage correctly. At the end of each stage, for the paper mode, you must return the Roadbook upon arrival at the camp.

During the stage, you will have to pass through several mandatory waypoints to validate the route. The symbology of the Roadbook will follow the latest version provided by the FIM, in a smaller and simplified format available to everyone. You can consult the complete nomenclature in ANNEX I of these regulations.

And don’t worry, if there are modifications, you will also receive them together with the roadbook.

10. GPS

If you have chosen to participate using a GPS, you will receive a navigation or track file. This file, in GPX format, will be sent to you by email the afternoon before the stage. In addition, the organization will provide you with a technical assistance point in case you need help to load the tracks in your GPS.

During the stage, you will have to pass through several mandatory waypoints to validate the route and ensure that you have completed the stage correctly.

11. TRACKING SYSTEM AND WAYPOINTS

TRACKING

You should know that we will use the Anube Stela EVO III system to control the pilots’ route. This system is mandatory for all categories and modalities and we will give it to you at the beginning of the raid.

It is important that you ensure that the system is working properly at all times. You must keep it connected to a power outlet at all times. If for any reason (loss, destruction, shutdown, etc.) the tracking system cannot read the information, you may receive penalties at the discretion of the organizing committee.

It is a fundamental element for your safety and you must ensure that it functions correctly.

WAYPOINTS

Each of the stages will have Waypoints (WP), some to control that you have passed through the points of the route, others located in points of delicate or complicated passage, as well as areas where the speed is limited by its uniqueness. All of them may be of different radius of opening and validation, the radius of opening and validation are:

12. DEVELOPMENT OF THE RACE / COURSE

12.1 General description

The Motocard Epic Raid is an event designed for motorcycle lovers. It consists of 5 stages in Morocco, but don’t worry, it is not a competition and there are no rankings. The real purpose of the event is that you, as a participant, live a unique experience of navigation and riding. Imagine combining the charm of Morocco with the atmosphere of the camp and feel like in the great rallies and raids.

12.2 Travel

The route is adapted to the two categories and navigation modes: Roadbook or GPS. The main difficulty is the navigation, so keep your concentration to validate the checkpoints. The tracks and places through which you will ride are open to traffic, so caution and respect are key. Remember to comply with traffic regulations at all times. Police officers will be vigilant and may penalize you just like any other road user.

12.3 Briefing

On November 10, all participants will meet at the service park for a general briefing. There, the complete perspective of the race will be explained and the first stage will be detailed. It is mandatory to attend this briefing in person.

In addition, every day at 8:00 pm, at the final camp of the stage, there will be a new briefing explaining the next day’s stage. You will also have access to the written version on the Sportity notice board.

12.4 Output order and frequency

So that all participants have the opportunity to open the track and live the experience, each stage will have a random starting order established by the organization. So, be prepared for surprises at the start!

On the day of the stage, we will inform you of the starting order during the briefing in Sportity. Be sure to be attentive.

Departures will be made at a frequency determined by the organization. Follow your schedule according to the starting order. If you fail to do so, we may schedule a new start in the last position.

Remember that the start will be closed 15 minutes after the last participant has started according to the marked time, unless the stewards have to neutralize the start and assign a new time, in which case that will be the reference point.

12.5 Controls of each stage

During the test, you will encounter several types of controls that you should be aware of:

  1. Start: This is the moment when you are given the signal to start, accelerate hard!
  2. Waypoints (WPC and WPS): In each stage, there will be mandatory waypoints. They are marked in the Road Book and on the track, so don’t miss them.
  3. Controlled speed zone (DZ and FZ): When driving through towns or risk areas, speed will be reduced and controlled. Pay attention to the indications and respect the limits.
  4. Refueling point: In each stage, there will be recommended refueling points. Both public gas stations and some points installed by the organization, but you decide where to fill the tank.
  5. Refreshment area: The Organization will mark refreshment areas where you will be given food and drinks to recharge your batteries!
12.6 Latest arrival time

The time limit to finish the stages should not exceed the breafing before the next stage scheduled at 20:00, although for your peace of mind as a participant the route is designed to enjoy and have relaxed schedules, to arrive early in the afternoon to the camp and enjoy the post-stage.

12.7 Marathon Stage

The Marathon stage is special. It consists of two stages in which we will share a giant camp under a haima. Imagine: mattresses, blankets and a unique atmosphere. In addition, you will have access to dining facilities, showers and toilets, everything you need to recharge your batteries!

But be careful, in this stage there will be no mechanical assistance or physiotherapy. If you need to work on your bike, use the tools you have with you or ask other riders for help. The organization will also equip the camp with common tools for maintenance work. However, assistance from other people (mechanics, family members, etc.) is not allowed. If someone else helps you, you will lose your Finisher status.

12.8 Modifications during the stage

The organization reserves the right to cut part of the stage for safety reasons. If a change is communicated, you must follow the indicated route. The waypoints of the shortened area will be cancelled for all raiders, regardless of whether you have validated them or not.

13. ASSISTANCE AND REFUELING

13.1 Assistance during the stage

If you need help on the track, another rider is allowed to give you a hand. Whether it’s to repair the bike or to tow it, count on the collaboration of your teammates!

13.2 In camps with assistance from the organization

The Organization provides material for the participants, but there are no mechanics or specific help in the assistance area. However, you will have at your disposal a truck with generic tools.

13.3 Material transported to each participant
  • 1 box of 60 x 40 x 32 centimeters.

  • 1 FLEXIBLE luggage bag (max 90x40x40 cm)

13.4 Refueling during the stage

You will be able to refuel at public gas stations along the route. The stages are designed so that you can do so. Just make sure you have a range of at least 250 kilometers on your bike.

14. WITHDRAWALS AND REINSTATEMENTS

If for any reason you are unable to complete a stage, either due to a mechanical breakdown or medical problems, do not worry. You will be able to rejoin the race in the following stage. The Organization will be in charge of transporting you and your bike to the next camp.

From then on, you must be self-sufficient. The Organization will not make any more transfers between camps, unless you suffer a serious mishap that requires hospital evacuation. In that case, you will receive the necessary care from the Organization.

If you withdraw, remember that you are responsible for returning to the Peninsula by your own means and with your motorcycle, unless a mishap has occurred that requires hospital evacuation.

In the event that you cannot complete all the stages, you will not have the option to become a Finisher.

15. ROOM AND BOARD

The registration to Motocard Epic Raid includes half board accommodation, this includes 6 dinners, 6 breakfasts and refreshments at the end of each stage, 5 nights in a hotel, 1 night in a bivouac.

You will also have a survival ration for each stage, the provisioning during the stages and the final dinner at the end of the race.

16. FINISHER RIDER

Motocard Epic Raid is an adventure, but also a great challenge for you as a rider.

It is a personal challenge and an unforgettable memory for life. For this reason, we believe that the pilots who manage to complete the 5 stages deserve a special recognition: to be FINISHER.

To consider a stage as completed, you must comply with the following:

  • To complete each stage within the established time.
  • Pass through all checkpoints (WP).

Remember that you must not intentionally avoid any area of increased difficulty. If you do not complete a stage totally or partially for any reason (external help, etc.), you will not be considered a FINISHER.

17. SAFETY PLAN

17.1 Accident assistance

If you find another participant on the track who has a problem, whether mechanical or medical, you must stop and attend to him/her. Check that he/she is well. If you need help, activate the protocols explained in the Stella device. You can indicate that everything is fine, that you are stopped without needing help or that you need urgent help.

If you have mobile coverage, call the Race Director to communicate the incidents and the type of assistance needed.

17.2 Medical services

The Organization will have 4×4 medical vehicles to attend possible medical emergencies in any type of track strategically distributed along the route of each stage. In addition to other vehicles for medical support.

17.3 Travel assistance

The Organization will provide 4×4 rescue vehicles to deal with incidents on the track. This includes the rescue of motorcycles in case of breakdowns that cannot be repaired by the participants. The assistance will not be able to fix the motorcycle, but it will be able to rescue it.

18. SPORTSMANSHIP AND RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

At Motocard Epic Raid, we have a strong commitment to the preservation of the environment and the maintenance of civic rules. As a participant, it is essential that you strictly follow the traffic and road safety rules in Morocco. It is strictly forbidden to litter or break the traffic laws. In addition, we ask you to respect the environment, including agriculture, livestock and private property. Any damage caused will be your responsibility.

In addition, all motorcycles must comply with current vehicle regulations, pass the Technical Vehicle Inspection (ITV) and have Compulsory Automobile Insurance (SOA) valid in Spain and Morocco. This approach seeks to guarantee a legal, safe and environmentally friendly experience.

19. CANCELLATION

The organization reserves the right to cancel the event in certain circumstances:

  1. Health causes, such as a pandemic or other health emergencies.
  2. Serious meteorological catastrophes that prevent the event from being held.
  3. Other serious and justified reasons.

Should any of these situations arise, the following refund policies will apply:

  • 50% of the registration fee if it is between 60 and 30 days before the event.

Remember that your safety and well-being are our priority.

20. ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS

Participation implies full compliance with each of the points described in these rules, including safety regulations, respect for the environment, civility, and any liability arising from your performance during the event.
